Body Building was a 5 week long project that challenged us every week to critically explore the human body and its relationship with space in a creative way.
// WEEK 1: PERFORM
How do we occupy space? For this photography based group project we walked around our local city Dundee, looking out for empty and unused spaces. We took photographs of them, which we then projected on our bodies and faces in order to fill the space with life and emotions.
//WEEK 2: TRACK
How do we move through a space? For this project we recorded people’s movements and interactions in different spaces, which we then visualised in an abstract diagram.
//WEEK 3: ADORN
How can architecture be worn on the body? For this project I explored how our DJCAD building could be worn on the body and which role we as students inside this building play.
//WEEK 4: BUILD
How can we abstract the human body? Using our life drawings as a starting point, we had to build a 1:1 scale person out of cardboard for this project.
//WEEK 5: EMOTE
How can we express our relationship with space through an object? This abstract sculpture explores how we visually perceive different factors, such as light, shadows or movements in a space.
